Welcome to our new website! AFTA is embarking on a new direction as a national voice for the Australian fishing trades industry for the betterment of recreational fishing in Australia.
This website provides a platform for the Association’s media statements, newsletters and policy information. I urge you to sign-up to our new monthly newsletter News Reel.
As new government policies are developed I look forward to working with the board and members in achieving sensible and sustainable outcomes for fishers and the environment.

Membership is available to Australian wholesalers/distributors/manufacturers of fishing tackle and associated products and services, as well as retailers and media organisations that promote recreational fishing.
Retailers and other businesses can apply for membership by contacting the AFTA office.
The Australian Fishing Trade Association (AFTA) was formed in the early 1980s by independent wholesalers/distributors and manufacturers of fishing tackle and associated products in Australia.
AFTA is an Australian trade association dedicating itself to the promotion of public angling and of its members. AFTA members are often the first point of contact for anglers wanting local information, rules and regulations, and also promote sustainable angling and public education.
AFTA plays a key role as a national voice for the industry and anglers, particularly as governments develop policies which will affect recreational fishing across Australia, including proposed new marine parks in various parts of the country.
Registration for AFTA’s annual trade show 2012 will be open on this website from Tuesday, 1 May 2012.
This year's show will be held on the Gold Coast on 20, 21 and 22 August and is shaping-up to be the biggest ever in the event's history.
Australian tackle, marine and outdoor traders wishing to exhibit can contact the show organisers on (02) 9695 7799.
