AFTA Hall of Fame Award
The Australian Fishing Trade Association (AFTA) recognises individuals who have made meaningful, enduring contributions to the recreational fishing industry through their association with AFTA. Since its inception in 2013, the AFTA Hall of Fame has honoured distinguished members of the sector. AFTA extends its appreciation to all nominees and inductees, acknowledging their significant influence on the industry.
Nomination Requirements
- Membership Qualification: Nominees must be current or past members of the Australian Fishing Trade Association (AFTA).
- Significant Contribution: Nominees must demonstrate sustained, impactful service to the recreational fishing industry that reflects a deep commitment to AFTA’s mission of protecting fishing’s future and increasing participation.
Contributions should extend beyond a nominee’s professional obligations and include voluntary, personal or community-driven efforts. This may include political advocacy and engagement to protect fishing access, involvement in fisheries management and policy development, initiatives that grow recreational fishing participation or activities that safeguard the long-term viability of the sector. Significant involvement that has advanced the industry and supported AFTA’s mission, including, but not limited to, serving as an office-bearer, committee member, or championing AFTA’s strategic goals, is essential. - Industry Leadership: Nominees must show evidence of leadership that has shaped the direction of the industry, promoted innovation, or supported sustainable practices.
- AFTA Recognition: Individuals under consideration must be recognised within the industry for achievements and dedication consistent with AFTA’s mission and values.
- Community Impact: The nominee should have made a significant contribution to fostering unity and progress within the fishing community, leaving a lasting legacy.

The Industry Recognition Award is a prestigious honour that acknowledges those whose significant achievements have been recognised by their peers in the sector.
