AFTA Chairs Report January 2021

Well welcome to 2021, this will be your year, so “Carpe Diem” as change and uncertainty is always a risk in this COVID environment.

There is no doubt the consumer domestic spend is up and that when borders and restrictions are responsibly eased rec fishing takes a lift.  The money that was historically spent on international vacation travel is being turned back into domestic spend and that is our industry’s opportunity to promote and build our individual markets.

I am excited that the AFTA Trade Show is going ahead this year at the Gold Coast Convention Centre with planning well underway.  It is a great opportunity, so seize the moment and be there to connect, I look forward to chatting with you in person.

Speaking of connecting, the AFTA “Let’s Fish” media promotion program is developing well, supported at this stage by South Australia & Queensland Governments with more to come on board for their state.  This program will build our market through re-engagement with a bottom-line result hopefully being felt in your till.
