The Spanish Mackerel Fishery Working Group convened in early June to review the latest stock assessment. The group expressed broad support for the findings, which are available in the full report.
Following the meeting, Fisheries Queensland has been carefully considering potential future management arrangements for the fishery. As part of this process, advice is currently being sought from the Independent Expert Panel.
Once the panel’s guidance has been received, we will re-engage with the Spanish Mackerel Fishery Working Group to discuss and refine possible future management options.
