AFTA is putting out the call for nominations from AFTA Members to nominate in the  expressions of Interest for the upcoming vacancies on the Recreational Fishing Saltwater Trust Expenditure Committee (RFSTEC) and the Recreational Fishing Freshwater Trust Expenditure Committee (RFFTEC).
Note the urgency as closing date for Nominations is 18 Nov and we must receive nominations by COB 15th Nov.  It goes without saying that there have to be NSW residents

Expressions of Interest are sought for the upcoming vacancies on the Recreational Fishing Saltwater Trust Expenditure Committee (RFSTEC) and the Recreational Fishing Freshwater Trust Expenditure Committee (RFFTEC).

The primary role of RFSTEC and RFFTEC is to review applications for funding from the Recreational Fishing Trusts and provide advice to the Recreational Fishing NSW Advisory Council. Members are paid a sitting fee, travel and accommodation expenses and are appointed for terms of up to three years.

Member essential selection criteria
  • Knowledge and experience in the recreational fishing sector.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders and government, including capacity to consult with and reliably communicate the views of the recreational fishing sector.
  • Capacity to undertake required duties, including reading and other preparation for meetings and willingness to travel to attend three meetings per year, generally in Sydney.
  • An understanding of issues facing the recreational fishing sector/fisheries resources in NSW.
Chairperson essential selection criteria
  • Experience as a Chair or facilitator with demonstrated capacity to lead others.
  • Understanding of natural resource management and fisheries management.
  • Ability to summarise committee discussion information, and where appropriate, formulate advice and make decisions in a professional and effective manner.
  • Knowledge of recreational fishing activities.
