Fishing Package Applications Now Open for NSW Gone Fishing Weekend 2026

Gone Fishing Weekend fishing packages support fishing clubs and fishing organisations to run their own NSW event to promote and celebrate fishing on Gone Fishing Weekend (either Saturday 17 or Sunday 18 October 2026).

Successful applicants will receive a Gone Fishing Weekend fishing package which includes rod & reel sets, goodie bags and giveaways, circle hooks, fish measuring rulers and recreational fishing information and resources, to help deliver a fantastic community fishing event.

This is a great opportunity to showcase your club, engage with your local community, and introduce more people to the fun of fishing!

In addition, the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) will host major Gone  Fishing Weekend events in Sydney, Lake Illawarra, Lake Macquarie, Grafton, Lake Wallace  (Lithgow), Lake Oberon (Reef Reserve), Lake Windamere (Cudgegong Waters Park) and Mudgee (Lawson Park).

Gone Fishing Day is a collaborative effort between NSW DPIRD and the Australian Recreational Fishing Foundation. with the NSW events and packages supported by funding from the Recreational Fishing Trusts, as part of the ‘Fish for life – Building a healthy fishing future‘ initiative.
