Brian Wheadon stands as a paragon of dedication and service to the recreational fishing community, with an impressive legacy spanning 57 years. His unwavering commitment is evident through his multifaceted roles, including serving as a life member and holding positions such as President, Secretary, and Treasurer of the Super Elliot Angling Club. Beyond this, Brian has represented key organisations such as the Piscatorial Council, the Australian Anglers Association, and SARFAC (South Australian Recreational Fishing Advisory Council).
His influence extends to government advisory roles, having been elected to MARFAC (Minister’s Recreational Fishing Advisory Council). His vision and leadership were instrumental in founding pivotal groups like the Copper Coast Sea Rescue Squadron and the Copper Coast Angling Club. Brian’s dedication to fostering community engagement is evident in his founding of the Copper Coast Family Fishing Competition, a cherished event that promotes family participation and the joys of angling.
Today, Brian continues to educate and inspire the public in his role as a Fishcare volunteer, where he shares vital knowledge about size and bag limits under PIRSA (the South Australian Fisheries). His tireless efforts and profound impact make him not only a steward of the recreational fishing industry but also a deserving recipient of this distinguished recognition.
