FRDC is looking for passionate Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders to join our Indigenous Reference Group (IRG), focusing on Australia’s Indigenous fishing and aquaculture sectors.
Being a member gives you the opportunity to promote Indigenous knowledge and values, influence the development of sustainable practices that will benefit Indigenous communities, and collaborate with experts.
We seek passionate advocates who are deeply connected to Indigenous fishing & aquaculture sectors, and are committed to blending traditional knowledge with modern practices.
Key selection criteria
FRDC IRG committee members require the following expertise and experience:
- High level knowledge and experience in Indigenous fishing
- Leadership experience
- Highly developed business acumen
- Highly developed communication and consultation skills
- Appreciation of governance practices
- Understanding of government
- Knowledge and / or experience in the fisheries industry.
