The Commonwealth Threatened Species Scientific Committee is now accepting submissions on the listing assessment for Euastacus armatus (Murray Crayfish), to determine if it is eligible to be listed nationally under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act). The species has been on the Finalised Priority Assessment List for the Commonwealth since 2017 and is due to the Minister on 30 October 2024.
The Commonwealth is accepting submissions via the public consultation process via the below link.

The public consultation period closes 19 August 2024.
This assessment has been completed by the Fisheries Scientific Committee, who was the lead jurisdiction under the Common Assessment Method. The listing as a Vulnerable species under the EPBC Act will align the listing with other range state jurisdictions for the species, bringing effect to the intent of the Common Assessment Method.
If you have any questions about the assessments, please contact the Commonwealth via the details within the consultation documents.
