We’ve been made aware of scam emails pretending to be from AFTA. Please be cautious; official AFTA emails are only sent from @afta.net.au email addresses, and our team will never ask you to purchase Apple gift cards, send voucher codes, make urgent personal payments, or pay for access to contact lists.

Example 1: A scammer may send an email that appears to come from an AFTA team member saying they are tied up in a meeting and need you to urgently buy Apple gift cards for a “member thank you” or event giveaway. They may ask you to reply with the card numbers and PINs straight away. This is not from AFTA.

Example 2: You may also receive emails claiming that AFTA member lists, visitor lists or other contact lists are available for sale if you make a payment. This is also a scam. AFTA does not sell its member lists, visitor lists, or any lists to anyone. Please do not respond to any email suggesting that you can access this information by paying money.

Red flags to watch for: unusual urgency, requests for gift cards or money, offers to sell contact data, reply-to addresses that do not end in @afta.net.au, and messages asking you to keep the request confidential.

If you receive a suspicious message, do not reply, do not click any links, and do not send any money or codes. Instead, verify it directly with AFTA through our usual contact channels and report the email as spam/phishing.
