The new zoning plan for the Great Sandy Marine Park will commence on 21 May 2024.
The new zoning plan includes a range of changes across the park that will enhance the conservation if its natural and cultural values, address issues identified through the review process and provide a management framework that will support ecological resilience, regional lifestyle and nature based economic opportunity into the future.
In preparation for the commencement of the new zoning plan, the Great Sandy Marine Park webpages will be updated to provide information on how changes to the zoning plan will apply across all areas of the marine park. The information will include new maps of zones and designated areas, and other important information to consider when entering or using the marine park. These resources will be available in coming weeks at www.qld.gov.au/greatsandymarinepark.
